Vampiric mod change idea
First off, the search was disabled, I even tried the crappy google inurl search and I weeded through many pages and did not find anything. So I am posting this, hopefully it hasnt already been suggested.
I don't know about you guys but I like the vampiric mod. The only thing I dislike about it is the fact that you need to switch weapons when you arent fighting or else you could die from just standing there. How lame is that?
So I suggest that the mod be changed from "Life stealing: X Health regeneration -1" to "Life stealing: X Health regeneration -1(while attacking)"
What do you think?

It takes several minutes for you to die from standing around with a vamp weapon. Unless you and everyone else in your group decide to go afk, you're not going to die.

Not that hard, but it can and has slipped people's minds. At one point I lost about 70 Health before I remembered to swap out my Graygore's Short.
I like the concept behind the Vampiric change suggested, but something in my gut says it'd break the mod somehow. I can't figure out why since it'd result in no damage swing breaks where it counts, but something just smells off. Gonna try and pin that down, see what happens.

It's the psychological aspect of the mod. Mathematically speaking, max Vampiric mods always make up for the 1 pip of degen (barring blind, decreased attack speed). I think it was set-up this way for the rational people to think things through and realize they'd be fine using it but to give someone that was giving it a cursory evaluation to think "OMG DEGEN! All the time! Noooooo!" And then write it off as useless.

Mending is pretty nice to take this effect away and usually I just change bows if I'm not doing anything, ofcourse I have forgotten it and died while I went away to eat or something, but that's just funny. I actually like this vampiric bonus

Well, yeah. It's not a major concern. But why not do what Dauntless proposes? It doesn't seem like a difficult change to make, and it would be a pleasant convenience over constant switching.
If it's seen as unbalancing somehow, perhaps the vampiric (and zealous) mods could be changed to degen only while the wielder is in "combat mode", by which I mean, not getting the natural health regen.

Dunno, the trade off you get is that you lose health all the time. If you only degenerate while you're attacking, but you gain HP while you're attacking, all you can do is gain. Attacking loses 1 HP pip, but you gain up to like 3 (sword or axe) to 5 (bow or hammer) HP for every hit. Combine that w/ some stance or shout that increases attack rate and that degen doesn't really hurt that much. Plus, if your HP is getting low you can just run-off and w8 for regen w/ the negative of Vampiric.
A lot of people w/ Vampiric are */Mo for mending.

Um, but you don't lose health all the time, unless you're forgetful or just incompetent. All you have to do is switch to a non-vampiric weapon, or even to no weapon, whenever you're not hitting things.

Those people are just incompetent.
